  The Big Fashion Sale by Quebec Designers is a Montreal event which is well known (some people even call it "the mecca of fashionistas"), well established and well attended. Begun in 1994 with some 50 customers, the "Braderie" now attracts more than 20 000 people over four days, twice a year (in April and in October). From 35 to 100 fashion designers participate each edition, which is the reason why one finds everything at the sale: women's and men's ready to wear, children's fashions, coats, sportswear, leather, fur, shoes, bathing suits and lingerie, casual wear, accessories (hats, jewellery, etc.). The Braderie is definitely the place to be to discover what Montreal has to offer in fashion. From the well established to the newcomers, the participating Quebec labels get to liquidate their samples and overstock and their faithful clients get to purchase the hot new looks of the season at amazingly low prices (50-80 % off). Making of "Martha Graham" dress...

Black halter full length flowy silk dress, sequined and beaded with faux pearls and decorative beads. This is the dress that was chosen for my creativity project @ lasalla college. It was also picked and shown at Signature 2010 Fashion show in Palais de Congres, Montreal. There were 3 muses to choose from. First, Zaha Hadid, which is more architectural and structured. Second was Joan of Arc, which is more military, tailored and structured. The third one was Matha Graham who master contemporary dance. For this project, I choose Martha Graham. Concepts are transparency,volumes and movements. I created a classic and elegant modern look. There's movement which adds some characters and fun to the garment as well s wearer. Silouhette is very appealling and easy to accessorize. Very comfortable and silk has a soft touches! To be continued...
